Role Description
This is a full-time role for a Lunar Terrain Vehicle Engineer I/II at Iron Ring Technologies in Houston, TX. Get on the team now on the ground floor! As a Lunar Terrain Vehicle Engineer, you will be responsible for handling day-to-day tasks related to the design and development of the next-generation lunar terrain vehicle with an extremely talented and experienced team of engineers and other professionals that recently landed an autonomous vehicle on the moon. The LTV will be used both autonomously and by suited crew under the Artemis Program in prototype testing in early 2025, and full-up flight versions later in 2028. This is an on-site role in South Houston.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering or a related field
· Experience in designing and developing vehicles or related systems
· Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
· Excellent communication and presentation skills
· Knowledge of lunar exploration and space technology is a plus

Role Description
The Payload Engineer will serve as the primary technical interface between the prime contractor and payload customers, ensuring seamless integration of customer payloads onto the lunar missions we support. This mid-to-senior-level role requires an individual with a strong technical background in space systems, excellent customer-facing communication skills, and proven experience in managing payload integration for space missions.
The ideal candidate has experience working with government agencies (e.g., NASA, DoD) or space-focused private sector companies, acting as a focal point for payload management and technical problem-solving.
Responsibilities
· Act as the primary technical liaison for payload customers, ensuring their requirements are well understood and integrated into mission planning.
· Lead the end-to-end payload integration process, from initial requirements gathering to final testing and verification.
· Develop detailed payload interface control documents (ICDs) to align with mission architecture and spacecraft design.
· Coordinate with internal engineering teams, including systems engineering, spacecraft design, and mission operations, to ensure payload compatibility and readiness.
· Conduct and support technical reviews, including Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs) and Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), to validate payload integration plans.
· Provide technical oversight during payload testing, spacecraft integration, and pre-launch activities.
· Proactively identify and resolve technical issues to maintain schedule and mission objectives.
· Maintain close communication with payload customers, ensuring their payload needs are met and that they are kept in the loop throughout the integration process.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
· 7+ years of experience in payload integration, systems engineering, or related roles within the space or aerospace industry.
· Hands-on experience with spacecraft systems, payload hardware, and integration testing.
· Familiarity with regulatory and technical standards for space missions, such as those set by NASA or DoD.
· Strong technical writing and documentation skills, including experience creating ICDs and technical review materials.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage customer relationships effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with lunar or deep space mission payloads.
· Knowledge of RF systems, thermal analysis, or spacecraft power systems as they relate to payload integration.
